I
won a couple awards in the winter of 2005-06 that I’d like
to (not) modestly mention. My Reliquary
Chest
won
a first prize in Vermont Wood Products Marketing Council (VWPMC)
annual design contest. The VWPMC represents over 125 different
Vermont companies and 6000 workers. The prize was in the “custom
furniture division”, and was announced at the VWPMC show
earlier this year. Winning entires were selected by a panel of
architects, interior designers, and other design professionals.
My
Ying-Yang Desks and Hudgens’ Desk won Honorable Mention awards
in the Custom Woodworking Business (CWB) Annual Portfolio Awards.
I was one of two businesses (both from little Dorset, Vermont)
to win two prizes. CWB is a national trade magazine for the furniture,
architecture, and cabinet trades, and annually awards a First Place
in seven categories, and a total of twenty Honorable Mentions.
The
2005 Portfolio Awards were published in the January issue, and
are currently posted at www.iswonline.com. Last year, I received
an Honorable Mention for Catherine’s Bedroom, a suite of
five pieces.
